About

When a patient's gender is already set to Male or Female special characters are needed to set it back to Unknown/Undefined.

Steps

To reset a patient's gender to Unknown/Undefined in your ADT (Admission, Discharge, Transfer) system of choice, you can use two sets of double quotation marks (""). This action is useful when the patient's gender is already set to Male or Female but needs to be reset for any reason.

Here's how to do it:

  1. Access the ADT/Interface System: Log in to the ADT/Interface system you are using.

    1. If you do not have access to this system please get in touch with your Internal Help Desk.

  2. Locate the Patient Record: Find the specific patient record for which you need to reset the gender.

  3. Edit the Gender Field: Navigate to the field where the patient's gender is specified.

  4. Enter the Special Character: Replace the existing gender information (Male or Female) with two sets of double quotation marks ("").

  5. Save the Changes: Save or update the record to ensure the gender is reset to Unknown/Undefined.

This process allows you to reset a patient's gender status as needed for their specific requirements.
