Staff, patient, and asset tags should only need to be activated once.

How to Activate a CenTrak Mini or Micro Asset Tag

Before using a CenTrak Mini or Micro Tag for the first time, it must be properly activated. These tags are used to track patients or assets and must be correctly initialized to ensure they function as intended.

What You’ll Need

  • A Mini or Micro CenTrak Tag

  • The activation label (pre-applied on the back of the tag)

Tag Overview

  • Front of the Tag: Includes the CenTrak logo, barcode, serial number, and LED indicator.

  • Back of the Tag: Contains the activation sensor, which will be covered by an activation label if the tag has never been used.

Steps to Activate the Tag

  1. Hold the Tag Properly
Position the tag so the front is facing you. This allows you to easily view the LED indicator during activation.

  2. Remove the Activation Label
Carefully peel off the activation label from the back of the tag to expose the sensor.

Important: Do not touch, cover, or place the tag sensor-side down after removing the label. The sensor must remain uncovered and unobstructed to properly activate.

  3. Wait for LED Confirmation
After the label is removed, watch the LED on the front of the tag. A flashing LED indicates the tag has been activated.

    • This may take up to 30 seconds.

    • If the LED does not flash, ensure the sensor is completely uncovered and the tag is upright.

  4. Final Steps
Once activated, the tag is ready to be placed on a patient or asset.

Note: In rare cases, system acknowledgment of the tag may take up to one hour to register fully.

For best results, never place tags sensor-side down during activation. Obstructing the sensor can prevent activation and leave the tag in a powered-off state.

If the tag continues not to show after resetting and repeating the process with a new battery, then contact Teletracking Technical Support.
