About

This article will show you a couple different workaround options when you encounter a dashboard that has recently started to experience issues, such as blank sections after loading, unresponsive date range parameters, or issues with parameters in your dashboard.

Solution

Swapped Parameters Workaround

  1. Edit the effected workbook.

  2. Identify the swapped fields by locating those that appear with a red exclamation point next to them

  3. Open one of the swapped fields.

  4. An incorrect parameter reference appears.

  5. Identify the parameter that should be referenced.

  6. Replace the incorrect parameter with the correct value.

  7. Repeat steps 3-6 until all of the fields with a red exclamation point have been addressed.

  8. After doing this, your dashboard should function normally again.

Duplicated Parameters Workaround

  1. Duplicated Parameters Workaround:

  1. Edit the effected dashboard in Tableau Desktop.

  2. Go to the parameters pane and find the duplicated parameters.

  3. Right-click on one of the parameters and select 'Replace References'.

  4. Select the other parameter with the same name in the box that opens.

  5. Delete the parameter whose references have been replaced.

  6. If a notification that doing this will break calculated fields appears, select the other parameter of the same name to have its references replaced.
