To validate that data is flowing from the application database to Data IQ®, the following steps can be taken:

  1. After logging in, there is a menu on the left-hand side. Select the Explore option:

  2. From there Explore Page select New > Workbook

  3. A new workbook will open and give you the option to connect to data. These steps can be taken using any data source. However, the Census_Current data source is consistently updated with new data so should show recent timestamps if the data is updating properly. We will use the Cenus_Current data source for this example:

  4. The new worksheet will show available dimensions and measures to add to the worksheet. There is an option to search in the top left-hand corner of the worksheet. The measure we are looking to add is either “Lastmoddate” or “Lastmoddate Utc” (you can use lastmododate if you know the timezone the client is in). Add either of these to rows by clicking and dragging the pill over to the bar for Rows:

  5. The final step is to switch this measure to look at the maximum value record. This can be done by hovering over the pill and selecting the down arrow on it to bring up the drop-down menu below. Then select Measure > Maximum

  6. This will bring up the latest lastmoddate for the top record in the data source. This is expected to be within 15 minutes for a fast-lane data source. If there was an issue with data flow, the record would be around the time the issue started to occur. If the data flow issue is fixed it should now be updating to a recent time.
