About

To limit its use or to reserve a bed for certain patients, steps can be taken to block a location.

Steps

  1. In the Bed Status column, click the status name.

  2. If prompted, click Change Bed Status.

  3. In the Action list, select Block Location.

  4. (If required) In the Reason Code list, select a reason.

  5. Click Submit.

Best Practices

  • When a user attempts to assign a blocked bed, a message appears indicating that the bed is in Blocked status. However, the user still can assign the bed.

  • Current status must be: Clean, Dirty, Stat, Clean Next, Occupied, Suspended, UDEF-8 or UDEF-9 (user-defined statuses)

  • The Block Beds permission and Enabling EVS Services are required to perform this task.

    • If you are unable to block a bed but need the ability to do so, please reach out to your direct supervisor or internal help desk for assistance in updating your profile.
