To limit its use or to reserve a bed for certain patients, steps can be taken to block a location.
Steps
- In the Bed Status column, click the status name. 
- If prompted, click Change Bed Status. 
- In the Action list, select Block Location. 
- (If required) In the Reason Code list, select a reason. 
- Click Submit. 
Best Practices
- When a user attempts to assign a blocked bed, a message appears indicating that the bed is in Blocked status. However, the user still can assign the bed. 
- Current status must be: Clean, Dirty, Stat, Clean Next, Occupied, Suspended, UDEF-8 or UDEF-9 (user-defined statuses) 
- The Block Beds permission and Enabling EVS Services are required to perform this task. - If you are unable to block a bed but need the ability to do so, please reach out to your direct supervisor or internal help desk for assistance in updating your profile.
