Permissions

Permissions affect users' capabilities within applications.

Examples

  • There is a permission that allows users to view a request for a patient transport job and a permission that allows users to create or edit a request for a patient transport job.

  • There is a permission that allows an EVS employee to suspend a bed cleaning job in the Capacity IQ® EVS application and one that allows a user to edit a patient name on the Patient/Placement Details form in the Capacity IQ® PreAdmit application.

Groups

Groups link multiple permissions together so that they can be assigned as one.

If you are an administrator, you can add or edit a group and associate permissions with it within the Admin Tool component or within Admin > Settings > Capacity Management.

Example

  • You can add a group that has the permissions to view and create or edit transport jobs. That group can then be associated with a role called Requester 1 within the Capacity IQ® Transport application.

Understanding Membership in Group Context

When user records are added or edited, users can be assigned to the Requester 1 role and associated with a membership. The membership gives them access to patient and other information within a certain area (such as Unit 1 Floor 3, Building J in the main campus). The users will then have all of the permissions in the group associated with the Requester 1 role for the areas included in their memberships.

Admin Tool Components

Permissions for the Admin Tool component or Admin > Settings > Capacity Management can be one of the following:

  • View—User can view, but not change, information related to this permission within their memberships.

  • Edit —User can view and edit information related to this permission within their memberships.

  • None—User can neither view nor edit information related to this permission within their memberships.

Other Permissions

Permissions for individual applications (such as the ability for transporters to release themselves from jobs or for bed cleaners to suspend a job) are either enabled or disabled.
