Patient Placement Indicators (PPI) are used to display bed and patient attributes, as well as isolation types, associated with a patient's placement request. This feature is utilized by healthcare staff to quickly identify important patient and bed information, enhancing patient management and care. It is used during patient placement and bed assignment processes.
Where you can find this feature: PPI columns are available in various list views within the PatientTracking Portal application.
How Patient Placement Indicators Work
Functionality
The PPI column displays different indicators based on the type of information:
Text Characters: Represent patient attributes or isolation types (e.g., 'M' for MRSA, 'C' for Contact isolation).
Background Colors: Represent bed attributes (e.g., yellow for Negative Air Flow).
Occupying/Assigned Patient Row:
Displays both the background color for the bed attribute and the text character for the patient attribute.
Unoccupied/Requested Patient Row:
Displays only the text character for the patient attribute.
Bed Row:
Displays only the background color for the bed attribute.
If the "Display PPI Tooltip" setting is enabled in the Console Settings, hovering over the indicators will show a tooltip with detailed information, including:
Special information from the Flag box in the Patient/Placement Details form.
Patient attributes, bed attributes, and isolation types for the assigned or occupying patient (excluding stacking locations).
Bed attributes required ('R') or preferred ('P') by the physician.
Bed attributes, location name, abbreviation, and IVR ID.
