Patient Placement staff play a crucial role within a hospital. Although they may not provide direct patient care, their clinical expertise and problem-solving skills ensure that patients receive the appropriate care efficiently and safely. They manage a constant stream of patient bed requests and spend significant time coordinating bed availability. With the use of TeleTracking, Patient Placement Departments can:
Efficiently manage bed requests for all admissions and transfers.
See real-time bed capacity and availability as patients are admitted and discharged.
Use precision placement tools to ensure patients are assigned the most appropriate beds the first time.
Communicate with Nursing and Case Management for discharges to ensure bed availability as needed.
Receive real-time notifications regarding all bed requests.
Reduce the number of bed request-related phone calls.
Use predictive tools to help project future capacity needs.

Workflows
Common Patient Placement Workflow
This workflow outlines the most common steps for placing patients in PreAdmitTracking when they need to be admitted to the hospital.
PreAdmit Status: The patient is brought into XT/Capacity IQ® via an A05 message, placing them in PreAdmit status without an assigned bed.
Request Activation: Patient Placement staff activate the request either through an interface order or manually by clicking the red requested timer, turning it green.
Bed Request: A bed request is placed to the intended unit via the XT/Capacity IQ® UI or through interface orders.
Notification: Users set to receive notifications for the "requested" action are alerted, and the patient appears on their PreAdmitTracking list views.
Bed Assignment: Unit staff assign the patient a bed, creating an assignment and sending out notifications.
Ready-to-Move Timer: Indicates that the patient is ready to be moved to the unit.
ADT Update: The hospital's registration system sends an ADT update via A01, A02, or A08 message, admitting the patient to the intended bed.
