Bed Size
Bed Size is a designation indicating whether a bed is for an adult, child, or infant. This feature is used by administrators and healthcare staff to ensure accurate patient placement and bed management. Administrators and healthcare staff use this feature to ensure accurate patient placement and bed management, especially when managing patient locations and bed attributes.

How Bed Size Works
Functionality
Definition: Bed Size indicates whether a bed is for an adult, child, or infant.
Customization: Administrators can customize bed size names in the Dictionary Management section of the Admin Tool or Admin > Settings > Capacity Management component.
Viewing and Changing:
The bed size of a patient's home location or the location shown in the Bed column can be viewed and changed.
To change the bed size, click the current size to display the Change Bed Attributes: View/Edit Bed Size dialog box. Select a new size from the Bed Size list and click Submit.
Bed Size Requested: This is the bed size requested for the patient in the Bed Size Needed list on the Patient/Placement Details form.
Permissions Required
The Capacity IQ® EVS application Change Bed Size permission is required to change bed sizes.
Workflows
Changing Bed Size
Accessing Bed Size:
On a bed list, click the bed size in the Size column to display the Change Bed Attributes window.
On a bed list or employee list, click the bed in the Bed column to display the Bed Detail window, then click the bed size to display the Change Bed Attributes window.
Changing Bed Size:
In the Change Bed Attributes window, select a different size from the Bed Size list and click Submit.
If the Bed Detail window is displayed, click Close to return to the bed list.
Including Bed Size in Notifications and IVR Prompts
Enable Notifications:
Under General, in the Notify Bed Size section, ensure the green Enabled button appears. If the gray Disabled button appears, click it to change it to Enabled.
Click Save.
