Bed Cleaning

Bed cleaning is a critical process to ensure hygiene and patient safety. This feature is used by EVS staff to manage bed cleanliness. It is essential when beds need to be cleaned manually, when spill clean requests are necessary, or when cleaning requests need to be canceled.

How Bed Cleaning Works

Functionality

Requesting A Bed Cleaning Manually

As patients are discharged, beds automatically dirty and notify EVS staff in TeleTracking. However, beds may need to be dirtied manually on rare occasions. This action can be completed on beds that are Occupied or Clean.

  1. From the Unit Tab, click on the Bed Number and select Bed Information from the menu.

  2. Click on the Bed Status button.

  3. In the new box that opens, click on the Action drop-down and select Create Cleaning Request.

  4. Select the appropriate status in the New Status column and click Submit.

  5. The Bed Status will be updated to show the new status.

Cancelling A Cleaning Request

If EVS staff is no longer needed to clean a bed, the request must be canceled in the system. A Reason Code explaining why the request needed to be canceled is required.

  1. From the Unit Tab, click on the Bed Number and select Bed Information from the menu.

  2. Click on the Bed Status button.

  3. In the new box that opens, click on the Action drop-down and select Cancel.

  4. Select the appropriate reason in the Reason Code column and click Submit.

  5. The Bed Status will be updated to show the new status.

Requesting A Spill Clean

A spill clean is a request to EVS staff for tasks that need to be completed for a bed in either a Clean or Occupied status. This could range from a simple mop-up to replenishing soap. Specific spill types are defined by your hospital.

  1. From the Unit Tab, click on the Bed Number and select Bed Information from the menu.

  2. Click on the Bed Status button.

  3. In the new box that opens, click on the Action drop-down and select Create Spill Request.

  4. Select the appropriate option in the Spill Type column and click Submit.

  5. The Bed Status will update to show a Spill status to the right of the current status.

Cancelling A Spill Clean Request

If EVS staff is no longer needed to complete a spill clean on a bed, the request must be canceled in the system. A reason code is not required to cancel a Spill Clean.

  1. From the Unit Tab, click on the Bed Number and select Bed Information from the menu.

  2. Click on the Bed Status button.

  3. In the new box that opens, click on the Action drop-down and select Cancel Spill Request.

  4. Click Submit.

  5. The Spill request icon is now removed from the Bed Status.

  3. Select Bed Information from the menu.

  4. Click on the Bed Status button.

  5. Select Create Spill Request from the Action drop-down.

  7. Click Submit.

  2. Click on the Bed Number.

  3. Select Bed Information from the menu.

  4. Click on the Bed Status button.

  5. Select Cancel Spill Request from the Action drop-down.

  6. Click Submit.
