ADT IDs track and manage patient and location information in a hospital by providing unique identifiers. They are used to monitor patient movements such as admissions, discharges, transfers, and updates across departments. ADT IDs ensure accurate record-keeping, enhance patient flow management, and enable seamless data exchange between systems like electronic health records (EHRs) and tracking software.

How ADT IDs Work

Functionality

  • The following types of ADT IDs can be found throughout the Capacity IQ® application:

    • HL7 ADT ID: Tracks patient information and movements using HL7 messaging standards.

    • Room ADT ID: Identifies specific rooms within the facility.

    • Facility ADT ID: Tracks details about the hospital or healthcare facility.

    • Nurse Station ADT ID: Identifies nurse stations associated with patient care.

    • Bed ADT ID: Tracks specific beds assigned to patients.

  • The ADT system will recognize and search for ADT IDs and use them when they are requested.

  • If a transaction is missing an ADT ID, it will not be processed by the system.

  • For more information on using ADT IDs and HL7, refer to the HL7 Guide.
