This document defines and provides examples of the different zoning scenarios in TransportTracking CMS

Zone is NOT exclusive, and Transporter is NOT exclusive (variable or fixed).

This will allow all transporters logged in this way to get jobs in this zone

EXAMPLE – The checkbox for “exclusive zone” is not checked for Zone 01. Transporter ‘TTUser’ logs in to Zone 01 (not-exclusive). This user will get jobs in Zone 01 first and foremost, but in the event that no Zone 01 jobs are available, they can get jobs in other zones.

Zone is NOT exclusive, and Transporter is Fixed and Exclusive

These transporters will only get jobs in the zone they are logged in exclusively to, but others may be able to get jobs in this zone.

EXAMPLE – The checkbox for “exclusive zone” is not checked for Zone 01. Transporter ‘TTUser’ is Fixed and Exclusive to Zone 01. This user will only ever get jobs in Zone 01. If there are no jobs, they will remain idle no matter what is going on in other zones. However, if many Zone 01 jobs are pending and ‘TTUser’ is busy on one of them, other transporters who are idle would be eligible for one of the jobs.

Zone is exclusive, and Transporter is NOT exclusive (variable or fixed).

These transporters will be able to get jobs in this zone, but, just like in a non-exclusive zone, the transporter will be able to receive jobs outside of their assignment if there are no jobs for the exclusive zone.

EXAMPLE – The checkbox for “exclusive zone” is checked for Zone 01. Transporter ‘TTUser’ logs in to Zone 01 (not-exclusive). This user will get jobs in Zone 01 first and foremost, but in the event that no Zone 01 jobs are available, they can get jobs in other zones. The XT Help Files also state the following:

"Transporters who have fixed or variable assignments may also log in to an exclusive zone. However, those transporters will be eligible to work on transport jobs that begin and end outside the exclusive zone."

NOTE: ***If NO ONE is logged into that zone, those jobs will go to the pool even though the zone is set to exclusive***

Zone is exclusive, and Transporter is Fixed and Exclusive.

The transporters who are zoned exclusive will ONLY get jobs in the exclusive zone, and jobs in that zone will not go to ANYONE else.

EXAMPLE – The checkbox for “exclusive zone” is checked for Zone 01. Transporter ‘TTUser’ is fixed and exclusive to Zone 01. Only ‘TTUser’ will get jobs in this zone. If many jobs stack up, they will all have to wait for this user to go idle and pick the next one up.
