Definition of Lead Time
Definition
Lead time affects the time that a pre-scheduled transport job will enter the Pending queue to be dispatched. This ensures the patient or item will arrive at the appointment on time.
Example: If a patient must be transported to X-Ray for a 10 AM procedure, then the transporter would have to pick up and move the patient at a time prior to 10 AM to have the patient at the X-Ray appointment on time.
Lead time is configured in the Admin Tool or from Admin > Settings > Capacity Management.
Example: For a component such as X-Ray, the lead time may be 30 minutes. The status of the 10 AM appointment job would change to Pending and the job would go into the queue at 9:30. This allows 30 minutes for the job to be dispatched to a transporter who will take the patient to the X-Ray appointment. The status of the job would remain Pending until it the job is dispatched.
Note: The requester would not need to manually change the request to make the status Pending and place the job in the queue when it is time to pick up the patient or item for the appointment.
