Message Board
The Message Board is an additional communication tool used by staff at both the Campus and Unit levels. It allows for the dissemination of important messages relevant to all Nursing Units (Campus level) or specific to individual units (Unit level). This feature is primarily used to enhance communication and ensure that critical information is shared efficiently. The Message Board is accessible only through the Patient Tracking Portal application.

How Message Board Works
Functionality
Campus Message Board: Controlled by Patient Placement, displays messages relevant to all Nursing Units on the left side of the screen.
Unit Message Board: Controlled by individual units, displays messages specific to that unit on the right side of the screen.
Access: Click the Message Board icon and select the Unit Message Board in the Patient Tracking Portal.
Message Posting: Type your message in one of the five Message options and click Save.
Message Rotation: If multiple messages are posted, they rotate automatically every 5-15 seconds based on hospital settings. Hover over the Message Board to view all messages at once.
Message Expiry: Messages do not expire and must be manually removed if no longer relevant.
Reportability: Messages are not reportable but are visible, so content should be carefully considered.
Permissions Required
Access Campus Message Board: Required to post campus messages.
Access Unit Message Board: Required to post unit messages.
Workflows
Posting Unit Messages
Access the Unit Message Board:
Click the Message Board icon and select Unit Message Board.
Navigate to PatientTracking Portal® > Message Board > Unit Message Board.
Go to Clinical Operations > PatientTracking Portal® > [Instance Name] > Message Board icon > Unit Message Board.
Select the Unit:
If the unit is displayed on the console, select it under Console Units.
If not, select the campus and unit name under Other Units.
Type and Save the Message:
Enter the message in the appropriate message box.
Click Save.
Posting Campus Messages
Access the Campus Message Board:
Click the Message Board icon and select Campus Message Board.
Navigate to PatientTracking Portal® > Message Board > Campus Message Board.
Go to Clinical Operations > PatientTracking Portal® > [Instance Name] > Message Board icon > Campus Message Board.
Select the Campus:
Choose the campus from the Campus list (only licensed campuses will be available).
Type and Save the Message:
Enter the message in the appropriate message box.
Click Save.
Note: Only one campus message and one unit message (per unit) can appear in the bar at the top of a list view at a time. Messages rotate automatically, and additional messages can be viewed by hovering over the message bar.
Message Board
The Message Board displays information relevant to units or the entire campus on the console. Users with appropriate permissions can write and post campus or unit messages. It can be hidden or displayed based on user preference.

How Message Board Works
Functionality
The Message Board can be enabled or disabled in the Console Settings window. Users with the appropriate permissions can post messages that apply to a unit or campus. These messages are displayed at the top of the PatientTracking Portal® console and can rotate at a set interval.
To show the message board: In the Console Settings window, ensure "Enabled" appears in the Message Board row. If "Disabled" appears, click it to change it to "Enabled."
To hide the message board: In the Console Settings window, click "Enabled" in the Message Board row to change it to "Disabled."
The Message Board is an additional communication tool that can contain messages from a Campus or Unit level. Configuring the Message Rotation Interval
Users with the necessary permissions can set the interval at which messages rotate for each campus.
Permissions and Membership Required
Admin Tool Menu permission
PreAdmit Campus Settings administrative permission
Edit rights to change information (View rights allow viewing only)
Membership Type "All" with administrative rights enabled, or Membership Type "Fixed" with campus-level membership and administrative rights enabled for the campus.
Workflows
Posting Messages
Click on the icon and select Unit Message Board.
Type your message in one of the five Message options.
Click Save when finished.

Messages are not reportable, so be mindful of the content displayed.
Configure the Message Rotation Interval
Go to Admin Tool > Enterprise Management > Enterprise Information or Admin > Settings > Capacity Management > Enterprise Management > Enterprise Information.
On the Enterprise Information tab, in the Campus column, click the campus for which you want to set the interval.
Click the Global Settings tab, then click PatientTracking Portal®.
In the Message Board Scroll Interval box, type the number of seconds for the message rotation interval.
Click Save.
